
Nigeria's political history is full of crises, particularly between Muslims and Christians, who frequently engage in attacks leading to loss of valuable lives and properties.
The year 2011 witnessed general elections in Nigeria and several regime changes around the globe.
The Arab-spring in the Middle East swept away the decade-long regime of presidents: Zainul Abidine, Hosni Mubarak and Muammar Gaddafi among others, while the Euro-zone debt crisis led to the fall of Italy’s prime minister, Berlusconi and Greek’s Papandreou.
In this first of our series of year-end reviews, correspondent Abubakar Salihu Abubakar reviews some of the political events within the outgoing year.
The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Andrew Lloyd visited Freedom Radio on Tuesday November 29, 2011. He said it was a ‘wonderful privilege to come to Freedom Radio, the best Radio Station in Nigeria.’
The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency Dorothee Janetzke-Wenzel visited Freedom Radio on Thursday November 24, 2011. She described the event as; ‘a very happy day to visit Freedom Radio – the “voice of the people” and to the close cooperation between Freedom Radio and Radio Deutsche Welle as one expression of the very good Nigerian-German Relations.

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Terence P McCulley visited Freedom Radio on Wednesday October 12, 2011 to ‘bring the greetings and best wishes of the American government and people to’ in his own words, ‘my friends at Freedom Radio.’ The Ambassador urged Freedom Radio to ‘please continue the wonderful job’ it is doing.

Professor Murray Last is the first Nigerian University PHD graduate. He is the author of the famous book: The Sokoto Caliphate, written in 1967 which is globally acknowledge as an authority on its own merit.
Professor is in Nigeria to launch the Hausa translation named Daular Sokoto come next Wednesday 23rd of February 2011, which coincides with the 207th year from the date Shehu Usman Danfodio went out on Hijrah to Degel.
