Thousands of Kano citizens have joined the protest march organised by Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress against the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

The protest march signals the beginnning of a nationwide general strike by labour organisations seeking to force the federal government to revert the pump price of petrol to N65 per liter.

The protesters are converging on the Kano state NLC secretariat along Katsina Road from where they will march through Airport Road, Club Road, Murtala Muhammad Way to Race Course.

Labour leaders are expected to deliver their messages to the federal government at the Race Course.

Heavy Security

Security officers have been posted throughout the routes of the protest marchers.

However the security presence is massive in other major roads that are not part of the march route.

The Silver Jubilee roundabout along State Road - scene of the occupy Kano protest disbanded by security personnel - is heavily barricaded by police and military officers.
