Kano state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has suspended its anti fuel subsidy protest march to commisserate with the five people killed in Monday's rally.
Chairman of the chapter Comrade Isa Yunusa Danguguwa said labour and civil society organisations would use the occassion to restrategise on how to sustain the strike.
However, movement and commercial activities have been restricted in the metropolis as most residents stay in-doors.
Meanwhile security has been enhanced in Kano metropolis as Police, Civil Defence, Hisbah, Customs and Immigrations officers patrol the streets while airforce helicopters patrol the skies.
