Nigeria Joins Unesco Executive Body

Federal Executive Council has announced the election of Nigeria into the executive body of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) following the organization’s 58th executive session held in Paris in October.

Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku said this while briefing journalists on Wednesday in Abuja after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Goodluck Jonathan.


 According to Maku, the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqqayyatu Rufai, informed Council that the 58th session, executive session of UNESCO elected Nigeria and Nigeria will be participating in the executive council of UNESCO for the next four years.

He added that Nigeria was also elected into the International Bureau for Education which discusses and specializes in educational content.
