The combined efforts of sympathisers, staff of the school and men of the state fire service brought the situation under control.

Commenting on the incident, the school's principal, Alhaji Abdullahi Abubakar said nobody sustained injury or died as a result of the incident.

He said the fire apart from destroying the hostel, also consumed property belonging to the students as most of them escaped only with their dresses. 

The principal said the affected students were now accommodated at the students’ common room, sick bay and a classroom, pending the renovation of the hostel.
