An international Non-Governmental Organization, Save the Children has urged stakeholders to invest in nutrition in order to tackle malnutrition in children.

Nigeria’s Country Director of the Organization, Susan Grant made the call in Abuja at the National Nutrition Summit, with the theme “Scaling up Nutrition in Nigeria: Catalyst for Achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

She pointed out that malnutrition was one of the biggest contributors to child mortality and stressed if Nigeria invested in nutrition it would save the lives of millions of children.

Ms Grant explained that a malnourished child is easily affected by disease, adding that Nigeria has a leading role to play within the Africa region by adopting initiatives that other African countries can emulate.

The summit acknowledged the Investiture of Nutrition Champions for their efforts toward improving nutrition in the country.
