INEC to conduct bye-election in Kano

Abdullahi Danyaya explained that the former members of the two constituencies Abba Garko (PDP) and Danladi Isa Kademi  (ANPP) were murdered by unknown gunmen  November 17^th and December 14 respectively.

He noted that until lately both men represent Garko and Gaya local Government areas in the Kano House of Assembly.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner revealed that the Stakeholders in the upcoming election have approved the set date during a meeting with the electoral body in Kano.

‘’We had a fruitful discussion with the stakeholders on our readiness to conduct the bye election by February 2^nd and i am happy to announce that they have given their consent ‘’ Abdullahi Danyaya stated.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner further announced the body requires N26million for the exercise, adding that no fewer than 196 000 voters are expected to exercise their franchise across 313 polling units scattered within the two local Government areas.

Abdullahi Danyaya added that a senior lecturer from the University has been appointed to serve as Returning Officer, adding that Youth Corp members will also be used as polling staff in the councils.

He stated that Electoral materials for the bye election are ready and handy, stressing that  sensitive material have been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria in line with the provision of the law
