Baga Killings:Reps orders probe

The resolution followed a motion by Rep.Mohammed Monguno (ANPP-Borno), which was

unanimously adopted without debate when put to vote by the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal.

The house also called on the Boko Haram insurgents to embrace the amnesty offered by

the Federal Government.

It also called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief

materials to the victims of the incident.

The motion was entitled: “Urgent Need to Investigate the Killing of 185 People in Baga by

Soldiers’’.

Monguno, who moved the motion, noted that there was a confrontation between Boko

Haram insurgents and the Joint Task Force in Baga.

He said that as a result of the confrontation, one soldier and 185 people were killed in the

clash.

The legislator said that due to the confrontation no fewer than 200 houses were burnt and

185 innocent civilians killed during the confrontation.

The motion, which was not opposed, was adopted by the house.
