Over 500 Adamawa state pilgrims, who performed this year's Hajj in Saudi Arabia have protestested against Max Air at the Aminu Kano International Airport for failing to take them home in time.
The pilgrims were supposed to land at the Yola airport in the early hours of Monday but the plane landed in Kano where it bursted four tyres.
The pilgrims spent two nights in Kano while Max Air engineers tried to repair the plane for their homeward journey.
On Tuesday Morning, the protesting pilgrims prevented flights at the domestic wing of the Aminu Kano Airport until Max Air provided a plane to take them to Yola.
No emergency landing
Media Consultant of Max Air, Alhaji Dahiru Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident, however, denied that the aircraft made an emergency landing.
The Max aircraft, a Boeing 747 Jumbo jet, with registration No 5N-DBM and an inscription “Matawalle Katisina Umaru Musa Yar’Adua,” was Yola-bound, but had to make an emergency landing at the Kano airport.
A source, who preferred anonymity, told reporters that during the emergency landing at about 3.00 a.m, the aircraft suddenly lost its four tyres, but the pilot was able to control the situation and safely taxied the aircraft to the tarmac.
