Kano State Government says it will partner English Premier league club Sunderland FC to establish a sports academy.
Deputy governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said a three-man technical committee would soon leave for England to sign the agreement.
He told the state executive council of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria in his office that the present administration intends to promote sports.
Dr. Ganduje therefore urged the sports writers to come up with blueprints that will develop sports in the state.
He also advised the National Fotball Federation to avoid taking hasty decisions in the appointment of Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser.
Earlier, chairman Kano State chapter of the Sports Writers Association, Ahmed Rufai Bello acknowledged the efforts of the state government in supporting sporting activities in the state.
