The introduction of twenty seven buses for female secondary school students in Kano metropolis was received by many with mixed feelings.
Most parents believe that it is misplaced priority to provide school buses without improving the schools themselves.
However, the benefitting students commended the government saying the buses help ease their transport challenges.
Nevertheless, they call on the government to also provide learning facilities in all public schools in Kano state.
Commissioner not availble
Freedom Radio's Habiba Sabo Abubakar tried to get government's reaction on the controversy over the school buses but the commissioner for education Barrister Faruq Iya was not available for comments.
Meanwhile female secondary students in Kano continue to enjoy a smooth ride to dilapidated schools.
