Bayero University Kano is hosting an International conference on Islam, Peace building and Political engagement from Tuesday November 29 to Thursday December 1st 2011.

The conference is organised in collaboration with the British Council, Kano and the British High commission in Nigeria.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee Dr. Isma'ila Zango said the conference seeks to resolve the underlying issues that led to the violence that followed the April 2011 presidential election.

He added that the violence was unique because community leaders that used to caution the youths during previous crises were the targets of the rioters.
