Kano state House of Assembly has summoned the Commissioner for Education Barrister Faruk Iya to clarify reports about removal of Islamic studies from the  curriculum of Basic and senior secondary schools in the state.

The action of the lawmakers who have reconvened today from Eid-Kabir recess followed a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Yusuf Abdullahi Ata from Fagge.

Presenting the motion, the legislator drew the attention of the House to the growing speculations regarding the removal of Hausa and Islamic Religious Knowledge subjects from the state educational curriculum.

He urged the law makers to urgently investigate the issue in view of its sensitivity to Kano Citizens.

Correspondent Mahmud Ibrahim Kwari reports that after the debate, the House resolved to summon the Commissioner of education and Director Kano State Educational Resource Center to appear in its Chamber on Tuesday to explain the circumstances surrounding the matter.
