Nigeria capital market near collapse says Okonjo-iweala

Federal Ministry of Finance says the near collapse of the Nigerian Capital Market was caused by the inconsistency of regulatory authorities.
Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said this at the public hearing of the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on Capital market in Abuja.

864 civil servants from katsina removed from pay roll

Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema has ordered the removal of 864 civil servants from the pay roll of the 34 local government councils in the state, due to various irregularities discovered in their appointments.
Governor Shema gave the order at the Government House in Katsina after receiving the report of the state committee on verification and data capturing of local government personnel.
Among those affected by the governor’s order were 130 local government officials who were ordered to be retired for over-staying in the service.
He said the affected officials were found to have either exceeded the mandatory retirement age of 60 or the maximum 35 years allowed in service.
The governor also stated that 352 local government officials who did not appear for the screening and bio-metric data capture exercise would be dropped as recommended by the verification committee.
He also directed that the 320 other staff employed by the various local government councils without approval, should also be removed from the payroll.

The convict sometime in September 2010 at MA173 Zoo Road housing estate, Kano was alleged to have killed his parents and his three siblings.
Kano state to tackle agricultural problems from grassroots

RMRDC urges FG to create funds for advancing technology

Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has urged the Federal Government to create an intervention fund for Nigerians to use available technologies in creating Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).
Director-General of the council, Prof. Peter Onwualu made the call when Prof. Ita Ewa, the Minister of Science and Technology, visited the council in Abuja.

Security challenges calls for state policing ,says Adamu waziri

Former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Waziri, says the current security challenges calls for the establishment of state police to complement the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force.
Fielding questions from newsmen in Potiskum, Alhaji Waziri advocated that if established, certain areas of policing should be handled by the state police while key areas should be left in the hands of the federal police.
Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to stop those seeking to break up the NLC, adding that the action can trigger labour and political crisis.
